Maniac Mansion 3D
Maniac Mansion Reconstructed in 3D from Its Original Screens I originally started experimenting with reconstructing real world objects from images with GPT-6 Astra and Blender. One of those experiments was this chair: https://simulationcorner.net/chair/chair-evolution.gif That made me wonder what would happen if I tried the same idea with old computer game graphics instead. Maniac Mansion seemed like a perfect test case. The DOS EGA version consists of a set of very recognizable rooms, shown from fixed viewpoints. So I started feeding the original screens into Astra and asking it to turn them into 3D scenes. This eventually grew into a reconstruction of the entire mansion. You can now walk through all of its rooms in the browser. It is not a playable remake. The goal was simply to turn those original 2D screens into a place you can walk around in.
