I'm currently working on kelve (https://kelve.ai/) - an AI research tool that won't answer for you. You talk through what you're looking into, it searches the web for you as you go and suggests which pages are worth opening. It never summarises a page. You keep speaking and ideating while opening pages, it asks, responds, questions, searches, until you're happy with where you got to. When you're done it writes up what you found in the format you want, using the exact words/findings/learnings you spoke of (nothing more). The write up links each page you read to the related point in the text, so you (or whoever you send it to) can check it. The core idea is that having answers handed to you, be it from AI answers, AI generated documents or research, creates the illusion of knowhow but never real understanding. What kelve tries to do is keep some of the productivity benefits of AI, while ensuring it never does what forms the real knowhow (reading, thinking etc) Currently a solo project, backend in Rust, search uses Brave API. It's voice only at the moment as I think it's closest to "thinking" and quite fast to ideate with, but it's the part I'm least sure about so would love people's thoughts on this.
